Welcome on the Kusadasi Villa website!

vakantiewoning KusadasiFor almost 15 years we have been repeatedly visiting the city of Kusadasi situated on the beautiful West Coast of Turkey, just opposite the Greek island of Samos. It is a gorgeous area containing a deep cultural richness combined with a very pleasant climate. Even on the warmest days of the Turkish summer, the costal sea breeze coming in from the Aegean Sea tempers the warmth to a pleasant summer’s experience.

The home that we discovered for ourselves is a roomy 300m2 with a view of the Aegean Sea.  The house is in a peaceful area  of Kusadasi, just 20 minutes walking distance from the resort with all its amenities and the sea shore.  A perfect home in a perfect location.

The house has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 people. There are 4 bathrooms with both shower and bath. In one of the bathrooms you will find the washing machine. There are two patio areas – one of which is situated on the roof of the house with a splendid view of the Aegean Sea. There are also 2 balconies (one with sea view).

The lounge has a wood burning stove and satellite TV. The house is newly furnished in a retro style with top quality beds. All of the fine details of the home provide a comfortable home-base to let you explore this beautiful region.

Our home has air-conditioning and you will have full use of the internet. There is a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, kettle, dishwasher, fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine. (Bring your own cups)

It is not by accident that the harbour of Kusadasi accommodates cruise liners – it is the gateway to a tourist coastal resort where there is a lot to see and do.

This area of modern Turkey is also an area of antiquity with the earliest recorded history of art and culture. Ephesus is also close at hand; one of the originating places of the Early Christian Church.

The tomb of the apostle John is in Selcuk. The ruin is of the great church where John baptised. Close by is also the home of Maria where she, after the death of Jesus, was reported to have lived. The house of Maria is a place of pilgrimage for Muslims and Christians. We could write a book about places in the area that are worth a visit. Think for example of Izmir that was called Smyrna until 1930

Also a day wandering through the small streets with bazaars and quaint squares, a visit to the boulevard or the gondola lift are all possible and we can organise a guide and transportation if you would like this service.

In the house, we provide an information folder in which extensive information can be found. National Park Milliepar is worth a visit. The beautiful nature, the wild boar, turtles and a beautiful sea are a gift of creation for us to enjoy. A walk through the gorge is also possible, just like a visit to the Cave of Zeus, which is not an everyday experience; you can even swim in this cave!

We can’t let the culinary experience of Turkey’s kitchen go by without being mentioned. The headlines: fresh, meat, fish, vegetables, herbs and flavour! By Kusadasi’s sea shore there are several good restaurants with delicious food.

Some restaurants are recommended by us and are mentioned in the information folder. There is a fine shopping centre in Kusadasi with lots of shops.

In the evening you can enjoy strolling along the wide promenade by the sea shore, but you also have the option to visit one of the many pubs in the centre of Kusadasi. The Euro is worth about 3 times the value of the Turkish Lira, so life is cheap in Turkey – enjoy it!

We hope we have lifted the (Turkish) veil in describing some of the things you can experience here. We can assure you that your encounter with the Turkish people will be a particularly pleasant experience –  you will be wanting to return as quickly as possible to repeat this experience.

Finally, Turkey has a wonderful public transport system. Small buses that often whizz by can be simply stopped by raising your hand. For a Euro you can travel to many places of interest. Taxis are cheap and fast and, with some bargaining, less expensive than the minibuses when you are travelling with 4 or more people.

The manager of our holiday home is a very good friend of ours, who speaks good English. We can recommend him as a guide, driver and advisor. For a reasonable fee, he can bring you to the best places. If desired, we can also arrange a lot of activities for you, including: finding cheap airline tickets, transfers to and from the airport to the holiday home, but also organising daily or even weekly activity programmes.
